Valencia Design Education Forum 2020

This is a short (15 minutes) presentation at the Valencia Design Education Forum on 5 November 2020. The title, 'Why the Graphic Design Canon Matters', is a response to calls to reject the canon ('It's terribly white') and how we judge canonical works ('Is it ''Good''') by elitists in and around the design leadership.

The primary point of the presentation is that designers do not decide what are canonical works in isolation. The role of business, and the public more broadly are critical in determining what becomes the graphic design canon.
