‘Whatever people say I am, that’s what I’m not’
I have been a graphic designer and have written about design for almost 30 years. Over that time I worked for many individuals, institutions and companies in the arts, charity, education, politics, travel and transport sectors.
Although I have had many ‘job titles’, I consider myself, above all, an editorial designer. I also lecture at post-graduate level on graphic design and design history and criticism.

I was Born in Glasgow and became a ‘roofer’ when I left school. As I was pretty scared of heights I knew it was never going to be a job for life. I moved to London in my mid-20s and soon after got the opportunity to learn the craft of graphic design. I spent 25 years in London. I am now based in Madrid.
